20140112 The Orange Farm ‘Satanic Killing’

Man, 25, accused of satanic killing in court by Julia Madibogo – The New Age – 20140221

“A man accused of murdering his grandmother, two female relatives and injuring two others at Orange Farm, Vereeniging, in January, is expected to appear in court today.

Lucas Masiya, 25, appeared in the Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court last month and confessed to killing his relatives.

He fled to Tembisa after the killings and was arrested there on January 12. His grandmother died in hospital and the two female relatives were declared dead at the scene. A six-year-old relative escaped unharmed.

Magistrate Leon Ferreira ordered Masiya to be admitted to the Sterkfontein Psychiatric Hospital for a mental observation.

Masiya denied he was mentally ill.

He pleaded guilty to the killings that are suspected to be related to Satanism.

Letters about a secret cult organisation, the Illuminati, were found in his bedroom, that raised suspicions of satanic influence. Masiya had been in custody for more than a month.”

Letter written to The New Age on 20140221 by Co-Convenor of the ARF, Christina Engela:

“To whom it may concern,

I would like to get clarity on from the journalist who wrote this piece:

You said: “He pleaded guilty to the killings that are suspected to be related to Satanism.”

Since Satanism as a religion is not illegal in South Africa, why is it that you appear to put the religion on trial for crimes committed by an individual? Your statement infers that Satanism is a criminal act, or related intimately with criminality.

Why present your topic in this view?

Aside from that, I didn’t realize that just having letters about something could have someone labelled by that thing. Does having letters about Harry Potter in my bedroom mean I am a Wizard? If I were to then kill someone, would that make it a “Wizard killing”? If I stand in a garage does that make me a car?

I wonder, if a Bible had been found in his bedroom, would you have called this murder a “Christian killing”? I think not.

This form of sensation-seeking “journalism” creates the impression in the minds of your readers that Satanism is a crime, that crime is inherent to Satanism, and that simply because this individual committed heinous acts, this person must be a “satanist” – and that Satanism as a religion is to be feared, distrusted and not shown any respect or tolerance.

Of course this intolerant and biased view fits perfectly with the view some religions have of occult belief systems – who do not get taken seriously when they try to defend themselves against this form of media-instigated slander.

Naturally some reporters in the past have said they “are only presenting the facts of the case as given to them by the courts and the SAPS” – but kindly bear in mind that presenting a one-sided image without providing any clarifications about the issues involved from independent sources leads to bias and over-simplification of the issue and scapegoating of innocent people who have nothing to do with criminal acts, but who become tarred by the same brush by such shoddy and unprofessional journalism.

This is of course a libellous misrepresentation and a distortion of the facts.

Letter sent to the New Age by Octavius Drake, ARF member and practising Theistic Satanist also on 20140221:

“To Whom It May Concern,

I’ve just read this morning’s news article about the murders in Orange Farm, Vereeniging on the and I have to say I’m appalled at the quality of the reporting, but even more so at the gross ignorance in the article which I can only attribute to lack of research.

The article simply states that the man pleaded guilty and that the killings are suspected to be related to Satanism. The article makes no mention about why the killings are suspected to be related to Satanism except to say that letters about the Illuminati were found in his position.

How does anything regarding the Illuminati have anything at all to do with Satanism. Where’s the evidence to substantiate this claim?

After a quick scan of the Illuminati’s website at it seems to me that they shun all religious ties entirely because they believe it to be restrictive:
“The Illuminati Organization is an elite collective of political leaders, business owners, entertainment celebrities, and other influential members of this planet. By uniting leaders of the world in an unrestrictive, private domain – free of political, religious, and geological boundaries – our organization helps to further the prosperity of the human species as a whole.”

Personally I have yet to see any convincing – and far less verifiable – evidence that the Illuminati has any affiliation with Satanism.

Without verified evidence of Satanic activity, all you’ve done in writing this article is perpetuate hatred and fear of Satanists. This legend tripping only serves to continue the atrocity that we’re seeing in the country at the hands of disturbed individuals who claim to be Satanists because this is exactly what the media tells them Satanists are. And so the “satanic ritual murders” will continue because media are either incapable or unwilling to verify facts before they publish for the public to see.

So why am I writing this? Because I’m a Satanist. I renounced Christianity and dedicated (not sold) my soul to Satan little more than a year ago. I keep my identity secret as much as I am able in order to protect myself from persecution.

I’ve been content to refrain from speaking out against these news reports because they don’t directly affect me, but the continued ignorance and lack of responsibility in the media has to end, and so I’m writing to you with this appeal that you verify facts about Satanism before reporting such as you have been.

Understand the difference between true Satanism and legend tripping (true Satanism focuses on Spiritual growth and empowerment whereas legend tripping is what we see in the news. It is false. It is NOT Satanism and shouldn’t be reported as such. Call it brutality if you have to give it a name).

If there comes a time – and there will – when such an atrocity happens again and there are suspicions of Satanic involvement, I invite you to forward all the relevant facts to me before writing about it that I may verify. Better still, I invite you to educate yourself more about Satanism by visiting and finding out what we’re all about.

Thank you very much for your time.

Sincerely Yours,
Octavius Drake”
